Our Sacred Duty And Glorious Privilege (part 2)

Our Sacred Duty And Glorious Privilege (part 2)

Yes, yes, yes—proclaiming Jesus to a lost and dying world is a great privilege!  Yes, it is intended by God to be a source of great joy in our Christian faith.  (I believe that the lack of witnessing in a believer’s life robs him of the joy God intends him to have.)  But, let’s be clear.  While it is a privilege, it is also our job.  That’s right—our job.  Jesus says that we must WORK the WORKS of God while it is day.  Evangelism is indeed our job.  Can we embrace it as such?

“Our job, then, is to go to our fellow men and tell them the gospel of Christ, and try by every means to make it clear to them, to remove as best we can any difficulties that they may find in it, to impress them with its seriousness, and to urge them to respond to it.  This is our abiding responsibility; it is a basic part of our Christian calling.”  J.I. Packer
